Big River, Inc kicks off 2009 at the Chicago Childrens Museum Navy Pier

For many decades, the month of February has been designated as Black History month. During this month, the true history and heritage of the African American is recognized and celebrated.

5-8pm (Kraft Free Family Night)**

Meet representatives from community organizations around Chicago promoting African-American heritage and children’s positive development through etiquette, the arts, and athletics. Enjoy an historical dramatization by Englewood Youth Idol Finalists, a soulful performance by The Intonation Music Workshop and Rock for Kids, and a special presentation by Chicago’s own Negro League Legends, featuring Hank “Baby” Preswood, Johnny “Lefty” Washington, and Nathan “Sonny” Weston.

Open Mic Night and All Stars Project of Chicago

Visitors of all ages and abilities can take to the stage to sing, dance or play a musical instrument. Don’t miss the fun! Then, enjoy youth performances by Chicago’s own All Stars Project. Prevent Blindness America will also provide free vision screenings for your child.

Health and Wellness Evening with Kuk Sool of Chicago
Thursday, February 26, 5-8pm (Kraft Free Family Night)
Discover the health and fitness benefits of martial arts through interactive demonstrations with Kuk Sool of Chicago, led by Chief Instructor Michael Hill.
